The priint:suite makes enterprise Web-to-Print possible
What is Web-to-Print?
Web-to-Print describes the ability to create, customize, and order printed materials such as catalogs, price lists, brochures, or advertising materials directly via a web interface—without in-depth layout knowledge. Users access predefined templates that are populated with current data from PIM, ERP, or DAM systems. Web-to-Print combines the advantages of automated publishing processes with the flexibility of a self-service portal, making it a strategic tool for decentralized marketing and sales teams.
How does Web-to-Print work?
The technical basis for Web-to-Print is central data storage combined with a browser-based front end. Product information, prices, images, and texts are integrated into templates that can be accessed via a web portal. Users—for example, from sales, retail, or partner organizations—can customize content, select variants, and display them directly as previews. The final output is automated as a PDF or print-ready file.
Typical areas of application for Web-to-Print
Web-to-Print is used wherever decentralized teams, partners, or branches need regular access to up-to-date marketing materials that comply with corporate identity guidelines. Typical applications include business cards, price lists, product sheets, promotional flyers, and event documents. In the B2B sector, too—for example, for technical catalogs or brochures—Web-to-Print enables documents to be created quickly, individually, and in line with brand guidelines.
One of our customers is already implementing this successfully: The company produces up to seven main catalogs and around 70 brochures annually, many of which are customized for different target groups and markets. Employees work independently with priint:suite and use the Web-to-Print functionalities to flexibly create and manage their publications.
Requirements & benefits of Web-to-Print
For Web-to-Print to work efficiently, you need a structured database, well-designed template management, and a powerful publishing infrastructure. The modular templates contain placeholders that automatically pull content from the connected systems. An intuitive web front end makes it easy to use even without layout knowledge and ideally offers features such as preview and approval processes.
Web-to-Print offers companies numerous advantages: documents can be created quickly, central marketing departments are relieved of work, and brand communication remains consistent across all channels. Since content is transferred directly from the leading systems, the risk of errors is reduced. At the same time, content can be flexibly adapted—for example, for specific regions, target groups, or sales partners.
