Automation approaches for optimizing print production at Hansgrohe
With priint:suite, Hansgrohe's price book is not only translated into 23 languages, but also adapted in terms of content and structure to the respective market requirements. Each individual price book is completely rebuilt: no simple translation, no mere language change. Images and dimensional drawings are enlarged, moved, scaled, and finely adjusted in terms of design until everything harmonizes perfectly. And this is done for each individual country version – year after year.
The priint:suite-based publishing workflows have been specifically expanded to include the reuse of geometric data for product images and dimensional drawings, the automated creation of intro pages, the automatic generation of register punches, and the automation of chapter tables of contents (TOC).
The systematic transfer and storage of geometry data reduces image and layout adjustments in the finishing process by 25–30%. In addition, the automation of intro and punch structures significantly reduces manual effort while increasing layout quality and data consistency across all publications. The automated chapter TOCs also ensure consistent content structures (TOC, punch, EL pages) and further reduce the effort per publication.
The digital correction workflow is optimized based on the Dalim soft proofing software used. The PDF documents created in priint:suite are uploaded to the Dalim server. This provides an initial prepress document in the Dalim approval process that serves as a reference. This process is much more traceable and transparent, especially given that several people from different countries are involved in price book production. Dalim can be used to record correction instructions, zoom in on details, and compare different versions with each other.
