How to use the App
Thank you for your interest in activating our Datasheet service in your Akeneo PIM.
The following pages and How-to guide will explain in detail the step-by-step installation process how to use our Datasheet service App and how to configure your Akeneo PIM for use with our Datasheet service.
After the installation, you will be able to immediately generate a sample datasheet from your PIM and get a PDF of this datasheet directly back into your Akeneo PIM.
The Datasheet service App by Priint is a cloud-native SaaS integration designed to connect your Akeneo PIM instance directly with the priint:cloud automated rendering engine. This new version delivers an enhanced publishing pipeline directly inside Akeneo PIM, enabling the automated generation of high-quality, InDesign-based datasheets and small catalogs.
Key features and Benefits
- Always-Active Cloud Service: Fully managed SaaS rendering architecture requiring no local server infrastructure.
- InDesign-Based Layouts: Generates clean, professional PDF layouts ranging from single-page datasheets up to 10-page documents.
- Flexible Data Model Support: Full support for simple products, product models, variants, and complex combinations.
- Batch & Bulk Generation: Trigger PDF rendering for individual items or execute batch jobs directly from Akeneo list views.
- Rule-Based Automation: Integrates with the priint scheduler and Akeneo Business Rules Engine to automatically regenerate PDFs when product data changes.
- Event-Driven Architecture: Utilizes Akeneo events for immediate rendering upon user action or data modification.
Security
During the use of the Datasheet service App, when your Akeneo PIM is connected to our priint:cloud PDF rendering engine, the configuration will store an access token to your PIM securely within our priint:cloud environment which will allow us to connect to your Akeneo server transparently.
This security token is generated by your Akeneo PIM system.
It is important to maintain this same token in your Akeneo PIM system without changing it. If you delete the installation of our Datasheet server App, the token will be deleted at the same time. At this stage, communication between your Akeneo PIM and our Datasheet service would be broken. If this happens, please contact our support team.
Data Privacy, Retention & Rules Automation
- Data Ephemerality: Product data and images transmitted to priint:cloud are held temporarily during rendering execution and immediately purged upon job completion.
- Log Retention: Audit trails and rendering job logs are automatically retained for a maximum of 30 days.
- Business Rules & Scheduler: While Akeneo's business rules engine cannot directly call external applications, the priint scheduler hooks into PIM change events to trigger rendering automatically whenever product data updates.
Installation
Step-by-Step Installation & Setup Wizard
This page gives you an overview of the installation of the App. In this step, you have 2 installation options available to you:
Demo Installation: The App creates one new attributes(priint_template) in your Akeneo PIM . The App will also add one new reference entities (priint_templates, priint_brand) to your PIM to allow the PDF generation process. A product datasheet template (Datasheet Template 1) will be created and configured on your Akeneo PIM server for you to use. This template is ideal for testing our datasheet service. The App will also create a priintloud datasheet project for you on our priint:cloud server infrastructure using default settings.
Production Installation: For customers and partners that want to proceed with a configuration ready for Production, without installing the demo content, you can select this option. In order to connect our datasheet service to your Akeneo PIM, based on the installation option you prefer, please select the installation type you want and click the “I accept the terms of agreement” checkbox under and click on Continue. A priint:cloud account will be needed for this type of installation, Please contact your priint team contact to get an account.
1. Initial Launch & Connection
- Open Datasheet service App by Priint in the Akeneo App Store.
- Select your entry point:
- Log In: For existing customers with and active priint:cloud accounts.
- Try It: For demo and evaluation mode.
2. The Akeneo Authorization preview
In this window, Akeneo displays the permissions the Datasheet App by priint and will request from Akeneo during the installation.
- Review the required PIM access permissions: Extensions, Categories, Locales/Currencies, Assets, Asset Families, Attribute Options, Attributes, Families, Product Models, Products, and Reference Entities.
- Check "I agree to this App's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use" and click Allow and Next.
Enable permissions for the Event Platform.
To proceed, please click on the “I agree” checkbox at the bottom.
Then click on the Allow and Next button on the top right of the screen.
3. The Akeneo Authorization Configuration
At this stage, this screen will allow you to select and modify the permissions requested to the App.
In this window, you will be able to view the list of authorizations requested by our App in your Akeneo PIM system, you can scroll down to view the full list. As you navigate down in the list, you can decide and select the exact permissions given to our datasheet service within Akeneo.
By default no permissions are granted. You can decide here what exact permissions you chose to grant to our App, therefore what permissions you grant to our datasheet service within your Akeneo PIM system. These permissions are required in order to allow our Datasheet service to be able to interact with your Akeneo PIM and be allowed to read and/or write into different areas of your PIM as listed in the previous screen.
We recommend that you grant read/write permissions to the datasheet service App to ensure that the web services are able to read product data from your PIM and that it is able to write back to datasheet services specific attributes and areas within your Akeneo PIM.
In all cases, permissions granted via the App during the installation process can be changed at any time via the regular management of Authorizations in Akeneo.
Click on the NEXT button at the top right of the screen to continue.
4. The Akeneo Datasheet App settings
In this step, we now display the Datasheet App settings and permissions from the priint:cloud side.
This step is when we create a priint:cloud project for you.
Click on the Start Demo button on the left to get the demo installation and template installed and configured.
5. Datasheet App permissions
This screen displays the list of installation steps that will be performed, including tasks on the priint:cloud server.
Please click on the "I accept the terms of trade" checkbok.
A link is provided to allow you to read these terms/
When done, click on Continue at the bottom of the screen.

Once configuration is done, you will get confirmation that set up is completed and successful.
All condigurations and settings have been performed succefully in your Akeneo instance, as well as on our priint:cloud server.
A test template was installed, it is ready to produce PDF datasheets using your product data.
Click on the Go to Product Page to be redirected to your products and start using the Datasheet App for Akeneo
8. Test template
The following universal template was created on your server and is available for your use.
The design of the template is very basic, it has been created to work by standard on all Akeneo systems/
The template will use default product content in your PIM to generate a PDF output.
